Fw: Research Brief: eMail Tops Online Ad Budget Change in ‘09
Who knows if this is going to work (read: potential user error and blame placing on either BB or Tumblr), but these emails solidify why the role of the strategist, or even worse, the ‘futurist’ shouldn’t be all to far from the people spending the money.
Ok as I write that, and am too laze to erase what I just thumbed in, I realize that many strategists are the Marines to the CEOs Navy- Navy gives ‘em a ride, Marines blast in there and ruffle feathers, and then the Navy comes back with the muscle. Some futurists, however make ethereal commentary like media Shamen. A few weeks ago (http://www.mediapost.com/publications/?fa=Articles.showArticle&art_aid=99596), a writer mentioned that the future of all media was to be social, yet next year’s projections show it as a low performer with e-mail (hello ‘98), search (super-passive), print/tv (does that include non-appointment watching?), all ahead of social.
I guess that means that the future isn’t yet here. My stop is though…heading into work.
